I was commissioned to create a custom incense burner. As we tried various versions of the design the idea evolved from an antique andalusian style censer to this fusion of an eastern style squat incense bowl, with its subtly refined profile and solid three legged base, and a pierced lid featuring a North African geometric rosette complete with pine cone finial. I approached this by making a pattern in solid cocobolo wood, lathe-turned then pierced and carved. This was then used to make the mold used to create the final piece cast in bronze. The casting was then given an antique patina to suit the taste of the client. If you are interested in something like this get in touch to discuss.
