I had the honor of designing and producing the hardware for the doors of Bushra Mosque in Amman, Jordan. After creating the original artwork in 2D I then created digital 3D models of each item in Rhino 3D. This was a long process as I insisted on hand modeling all of the relief details rather than settling for an inferior approximation produced by various programs and ‘wizards’ I think this was well worth the effort. These 3D files were then used to create acrylic patterns using a CNC router, which were then cast in solid brass using the ancient technique of sand casting.
